High Concept
When a whimsical cloud-making machine starts hiccuping square clouds that "clonk" instead of float, a young girl and her robotic sheepdog must find the softest feather in the world to "burp" the machine and save their floating home from a blocky disaster. Set on Aetheria — a patchwork of floating islands connected by rope bridges — the film follows Pippa, an 8-year-old cloud-herder, and Barnaby, her steam-powered robotic sheepdog, on a perilous journey to the Storm-Peaks to retrieve a Gale-Whale feather that can cure the malfunctioning Nebula-9000.

Character Casting
Pippa (The Cloud-Herder)
An 8-year-old cloud-herder on the floating island of Aetheria. She operates the Nebula-9000 cloud-making machine and herds semi-sentient mist blobs for a living. Determined, optimistic, and highly inventive — she talks to her tools as if they have feelings.
Barnaby (Steam-Powered Sheepdog)
Pippa's loyal robotic companion. A small, round steam-powered sheepdog who helps herd clouds and provides technical support. Communicates through whirs, clicks, and puffs of steam. Prone to minor glitches when excited.
Narrative Flow (Beat Sheet)
Scene 1: The Daily Herd
Establish Pippa's world on the floating meadow of Aetheria. She herds semi-sentient mist blobs into the Nebula-9000, which produces perfect fluffy clouds. Golden late-afternoon light, tactile clay textures, the machine purring in C-major.
Scene 2: The Glitch
The Nebula-9000 starts hiccuping. Square, cobalt-blue clouds shoot out and crash to the ground with heavy CLONKs. Pippa realizes the machine is malfunctioning and the floating island is in danger. Rising anxiety as the rhythmic HIC-CUP pattern takes over.
Scene 3: The Jagged Journey
Pippa and Barnaby cross fraying rope bridges to the Storm-Peaks — jagged silver-grey spires in cold, overcast light. They spot a Gale-Whale and Barnaby catches a glowing ivory feather. A bridge snaps; Barnaby rescues Pippa with his extendable antenna.
Scene 4: The Great Burp
Back at the meadow, Pippa climbs into the Nebula-9000's intake pipe and feeds the feather into the core. The machine inhales deeply, then releases a massive cathartic BURP — square clouds shatter into millions of soft cloud-seeds that fill the sky.
Scene 5: Round Again
The sky returns to normal. Pippa and Barnaby share a cup of tea on the meadow as the Nebula-9000 purrs contentedly. One last little square cloud pops out with a tiny "hic" — Barnaby nudges it with his antenna, and it rounds out perfectly.
