Structure
| Segment | Duration | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Title Card | 0:00–0:08 (8s) | branding/title_card_faded.mp4 |
| Film Body | 0:08–4:17 (249s) | output/ferret-incident-roughcut.mp4 |
| Credits | 4:17–4:29 (12s) | branding/credits_faded.mp4 |
Assembly Method
Used the No Timeline Shift concat approach per branding-spec.md:
- Rendered main film from timeline.json (249s, 6 tracks, 96 clips)
- Applied fades to branding clips (title: 1.5s/1.5s, credits: 2.0s/2.0s)
- Concatenated: title + rough cut + credits via
genmedia-assemble concat
Audio Mix
| Track | Clips | Volume | Ducking | Role |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| V1 | 44 | -100dB (muted) | — | video |
| VO | 16 | +3dB | — | voice |
| DLG | 5 | 0dB | — | voice |
| SCORE | 7 | -2dB | -12dB under voice | music |
| SFX | 15 | -3dB | — | sfx |
| AMB | 9 | -18dB | — | sfx |
Ducking: sidechaincompress ratio=5.0, attack=15ms, release=300ms, triggered by “voice” role (VO + DLG tracks).
Visual Assembly
- 44 shots across 5 scenes (0–5)
- 5 scene-boundary crossfades at 1.0s duration
- Within-scene cuts at 2-frame (0.083s) micro-crossfade
- Master fades: 1.0s fade_in, 2.0s fade_out
- All clips center-trimmed via overhang principle (source_in/source_out)
Quality Gates Cleared
| Gate | Result |
|---|---|
| Takes Protocol | 44/44 shots approved |
| verify-dailies | 34 PASS, 0 FAIL, 11 WARNINGS (all handled) |
| Voice Stem Duration Audit | 21/21 stems within bounds |
| Double-extend drift | 10 clips recalculated |
| Shot 2.21 extend | Recalculated for 15s (was 8s) |
Known Trade-offs
- No score during title card: The concat approach means Movement I begins at the start of the rough cut body (0:08), not during the title card. The branding spec’s “3.5s of music establishing before first visual” was sacrificed for assembly reliability.
- Title card is silent: 8s of silence with fade-in/fade-out text before the film begins. This creates a theatrical “curtain up” feel.
- Within-scene cuts are hard cuts: The 0.083s micro-crossfade prevents frame-tearing but is not a visible dissolve. This matches Anderson’s editing style (precise, deliberate cuts).
