High Concept
Two photo-realistic matchbox cars — Zip, a bright yellow vintage sports car, and Rusty, a battered blue pickup truck — traverse a hand-drawn pencil-sketched world to find the legendary "Edge of the Desk." Their hoods pop open and click shut to speak. When they find the edge, a colossal hand lays a wooden ruler across the chasm. They descend into the shag carpet jungle below, discover a fortress of building blocks, and realize the adventure has only just begun. Mixed media: die-cast metal in a 2D pencil-animation world.

Character Casting
Zip
A bright yellow vintage sports matchbox car. Boundlessly optimistic. Communicates by opening and closing his hood in rapid, cheerful clicks. Believes every red road means it's fast. The eternal adventurer who makes every pencil line an invitation.
Rusty
A boxy, slightly battered blue pickup truck. Steady, cautious, pragmatic — but completely devoted to following Zip anyway. Hood opens slow and creaky. The voice of reason that never actually stops the adventure.
Narrative Flow (Beat Sheet)
Act I: The Great Margins
Zip and Rusty idle on the thick pencil line. Zip's hood pops rapidly: "Today, we find the Edge of the Desk!" Rusty's hood creaks open: "Let's keep our axles intact, shall we?" They launch into the vast white paper expanse.
Act II: The Enchanted Pencil Forest
Dense pencil-drawn trees. A river of blue ink crossed by a popsicle stick bridge. A colossal hand descends with a red crayon, laying a blazing new road. Zip: "A new road! And it's red — that means it's fast!"
Act III: The Red Crayon Canyon
They race through towering walls of crumpled paper. V-shaped birds in the sky. Cotton ball sheep glued to the paper. The red road ends abruptly at a torn edge — dark wooden desk grain visible below.
Act IV: The Torn Paper Edge
Zip skids to a halt, tires dangling over the abyss. The hand returns with a worn wooden ruler, bridging the gap. Zip rolls onto the ramp: "Here I go! Yippee!" Rusty follows. Exhilarating descent to the carpet below.
Act V: The Block Fortress
They land in the shag carpet jungle. In a sunlit clearing: a grand fortress of plastic building blocks. Toy soldiers lower a drawbridge. Atop the highest tower, they look toward the hallway. "The grand expedition has only just begun."
